Disney’s Wild by Design tour is a three hour tour through the Animal Kingdom Park. The tour takes place “onstage” which means that the areas visited are all open to the public. Because of this, the Wild by Design tour is open to children as young as 14 years old.
Your tour guide will walk you through the planning and creation of the Park and explain just how Disney took 500 acres of wetlands and created Animal Kingdom. You will learn some of the details that Disney’s Imagineers used to create the theming of unique cultural areas.
Highlights include learning about the fictional kingdom “Anandapur” in Asia, understanding the backstory for DinoLand USA, the village of Serka Zong, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures and Expedition Everest! I always wondered how DinoLand fit into it all, and now I know!
But the fun doesn’t stop there! You will also get the opportunity to meet and talk with Animal Keepers who give you a glimpse of what they do to care for the animals that call Animal Kingdom their home. This is a great way for teens to learn about the park and Disney’s attention to detail but also about exotic animals and the importance of conservation.
One of the reasons that I think this tour is so fun is that when the tour is over you can share what you learned with younger members of the party, or other people that were not able to go. Because the experiences all occur onstage, you can retrace the tour’s steps and remember the experience time and time again!
