Introducing Studio Fun and their ASPCA Brand of Books!

As supporters of animal adoption ourselves, we were honored to be chosen to review several of these books where each story is inspired by a real-life animal rescue story and written as if coming from the pet’s point of view – so cute! Each book is educational, includes facts and a photograph about the actual pet that inspired the story, and 4-5% of the book’s purchase price goes directly to the ASPCA to help continue its mission… Win-win!!
Review
Given that the ASPCA kids: Rescue Readers are written at a Level 2 reading level, these books were perfect for my kids (age 5 and 7). My 7-year-old was able to read them on her own, while my 5-year-old was able to pick out key words and read with the help of a parent. We’re partial to cat stories, as we have adopted several cats over the years from our local humane society. Needless to say, our favorite Rescue Reader story is I Am Daisy – a delightful story about a cat, adopted as an adult, who joins a family that already has a dog! Daisy learns that she just might like dogs after all, at least the one she lives with is okay. Even better, the message in this story shows that adult cats can acclimate and become great pets in your household. While kittens are cute and provide great entertainment, adopting an adult cat has it’s benefits as well – you already know their ‘full-grown’ size, you can gage their temperament, and most likely – their spay/neuter surgery is already taken care of!

Our 14-year-old cat, Simmy. She has been with us for 11 years. We adopted her from the Logan County Humane Society back in 2004. She still has her playful moments and is very affectionate!
