Monster Jam Roars!

This weekend my family and I had to opportunity to see Monster Jam as it roared through town. My boys couldn’t wait to check out the Monster Trucks.

Let me tell you, it really roared. Monster Jam might be the loudest show I have ever seen! We arrived at the show and I started to notice that some parents had headphones for their children. Enough so that I asked the man next to me if they were passing them out at the stadium. He told me his son “freaked out” the year before so he brought them this year. He then offered me earplugs for my boys, which I politely declined. I knew it would be loud, but I didn’t think it would be an issue since my boys are older. Then the trucks came out… and it was deafening. I quickly asked for the earplugs. And then I sent my husband to buy earplugs for him and for me. And, honestly, the show was still amazingly loud.

Once we were are slightly more comfortable with the earplugs we sat back to enjoy the show. The trucks, I admit, were pretty cool! They started the competition with the Monster Trucks performing stunts. A team of audience judges were there to score each drivers performance. The jumps were incredible to watch. One truck even flipped and they brought out a tractor type truck to flip it back over. My kids were amazed that no one got hurt. It’s clear the drivers are excellent.

After the stunts the drivers then switched vehicles to perform more traditional races. All of the drivers were competing to take part in the Monster Jam Finals which will be taking place in Las Vegas at the end of March.

Overall, I thought Monster Jam was very impressive, but my family just couldn’t get over the volume. We even left early since the noise was so deafening, even with the earplugs. I imagine if we had known going into it just how loud it would be, that we could have come more prepared and would have enjoyed the show much more. I would really suggest that the marketing materials and ticketing pages for the show make it very clear about the volume so that people aren’t stuck trying to deal with the noise.

I would recommend Monster Jam to someone who is prepared for the noise!
