AVATAR Land Construction Progress

As you probably know, the world of AVATAR will be finding a home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Guests will be invited to enter the magical, mythical world of Pandora and all of the beauty seen in the movie Avatar.

The area, which is being designed by Walt Disney Imagineering in partnership with “AVATAR” creator James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment, will be unlike anything ever experienced at a Disney park. Guests will experience the wonders of Pandora when they fly with banshees and explore a rich natural environment with mountains that float and interactive plants that glow at night.

Construction began in January of 2014 and Disney has been offering and will continue to offer sneak peaks of this magical addition to Animal Kingdom throughout the construction. Today they released this video that gives us a glimpse of the new land…

The concept art looks impressive, to say the least! Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released in 2017 and should be a perfect tie in with the new land in the Animal Kingdom – which is also expected to open in 2017.

As of now, Disney has announced two attractions for the new land. The first will be a flying simulator attraction (similar to Soarin’). Guests will get to fly on a mountain Banshee from the movies. The second is a boat ride that will travel through the land of Pandora.
