Tips and Tricks for Navigating Hard Ticket Events at WDW

I love attending special events at Disney. However, I have learned from experience that they can be crowded and difficult to navigate. Here are some tips that will help you plan for a hard ticket event, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

  1. Plan to enter the park early. Your ticket indicates what time the party begins, but Disney typically let’s guests into the park before the official start time. Check online as your date approaches for an early entry time. Going early also allows you to get a few rides in or grab dinner before the event begins.
  2. Prioritize. Go in knowing that it is likely you will not get to everything since these parties only last a few hours. Pick which shows, character meets and rides are “must-dos.” Disney often posts show times and meet and greet locations online before the event, so be sure to plan accordingly so you don’t leave disappointed.
  3. Take advantage of short waits for rides. Since many people go straight to meet characters or attend special events, this leaves many attractions with minimal wait times.
  4. Buy your tickets early. The parties tend to sell out. Also remember that as you get closer to the holiday (Halloween or Christmas), the events become busier. This is true for events held on the weekends, too.
  5. Attend Character meets early in the evening. Character meets, especially with characters who are not regularly in the parks, tend to have longer lines. If meeting these characters is important to your family, make sure to get in line early (even before the scheduled meet time).
  6. Watch the parade. Disney puts on special not-to-be-missed parades for these events. Arrive early to ensure a good seat.
  7. Fireworks. Disney puts on specially-themed fireworks displays. These are often the most extravagant fireworks and definitely not to be missed.
  8. Enjoy yourself! The most important part of these special events is to create lifelong memories.
