For the Love of Disney

It seems like a vacation to Walt Disney World or another Disney Park would be the same as a vacation to any amusement park in the world. But what is it about Disney that evokes such a passion with people? Why is it more than just a vacation? To some people, myself included, Disney is almost a way of life. What about it all causes such passion for people? Here is what Disney has meant to me through the years…

For me, Disney creates a sense of fantasy that transports you from every day and brings you to a magical world. The sights, sounds and smells (have you smelled the Main Street Confectionery??) are all designed to transport guests and for me there is nothing other than Disney when I am in the parks. I feel 100% at home, 100% happy and 100% at ease when I’m in the parks. I can leave all my troubles and worries at home (except, maybe for keeping track of attraction wait times) and just enjoy myself.

I love that the Disney parks are designed for adults as much as for children and that they are always evolving and that there is always something new to see and experience. When I was in college, I was a cast member through the Walt Disney World College Program. Every day, whether I was working or not, I went to one of the four parks. Often times I didn’t even go on any attractions. I was content just walking around, people watching and exploring the parks. I never tired of simply being at Disney World.

Now that I have my own kids, I love exploring the parks with them and seeing their passion grow. My kids like to play, “Guess the Disney Attraction” (kind of like 20 questions) at dinner and my older son will read guidebooks and Disney blogs in his spare time. I feel like they really feel the magic at Disney and love every minutes of our trips.

To me, it’s also about the passion about Disney from home. We will take an entire year to plan each trip from the perfect resort to picking restaurants and FastPass options. It’s not just a 5 or 6 day trip, it’s part of our year.

I could go on an on about how I feel about Disney, but I thought it would be nice to get some other opinions. I asked a few of the writers from WDW Hints to share why they love Disney, knowing we all share a passion for all things Disney. Here is what they have to say:

Kristie:

I love that no matter what, every employee has a smile on their face. I love that they ate excited by the fun my family has there and how everyone has a genuine interest in making every vacation different, editing and memorable.

Crissy:

I love that every time I go, I notice things I haven’t seen before (hidden Mickeys, a new area or ride, some “hidden gem” that not everyone knows about). The parks are constantly changing and evolving and that is what keeps people coming back.

My family also loves the special events and lately we have been planning our trips around them.

Terri:

I enjoy Disney’s attention to detail. Every land, every attraction tells a story. There is always something to discover. I also appreciate the cast members. Many CM’s will go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and special. Finally, I feel as though Disney is the safest place to eat (outside of the home.) They understand food allergies, and know how to prepare food to keep it safe from cross-contamination.

There is just so much to enjoy at Disney. What makes it special for you and your family?
