Getting around Walt Disney World can be pretty daunting if it’s your first visit and sometimes even stumps Disney veterans. There are a wide variety of transportation options and each resort offers a different option for it’s guests. We recently gave an overview of the different transportation options at Disney. Below you will find your options by resort.
All-Star Movies Resort, All-Star Music Resort and All-Star Sports Resort – The All Star resorts offer bus service to and from the different parks for guests. You don’t have the option to walk to any parks. (Part of their low cost is that they don’t have monorail or walking access.)
Art of Animation Resort – While the Art of Animation resort only offers busing for guests, it does not share buses with other resorts. This can save travel time and make for less crowded buses.
Pop Century Resort – Like the Art of Animation, Pop Century offers buses that are not shared with other resorts. Hint: While it makes for a little extra walking, if you’re waiting at your bus stop to return to POP and see the AoA bus, feel free to jump on that! You’ll have to walk from AoA to your room at POP (or vice versa if you’re staying at AoA) but you might save a little time catching the bus that picks up first!
Fort Wilderness Resort – At Fort Wilderness, you have the option of buses to the resorts or a water shuttle to the Magic Kingdom. This is a great perk for guests staying at Fort Wilderness.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – Along with buses to the parks, Fort Wilderness also offers boat ferry service to the Magic Kingdom.
Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resort – The Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts share the distinction of being on the Monorail line. The Monorail can take you directly to the Magic Kingdom from these resorts or with one stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center to EPCOT. You can also take a water shuttle to the Magic Kingdom. To get to the other parks, you will take a bus from the resort.
Please note, that while these resorts are close to the Magic Kingdom, you can’t walk there from either resort.
Bay Lake Tower and Contemporary Resort – Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary Resort, which are connected by a sky way both have monorail access at the Contemporary. From there you can go directly to the Magic Kingdom or with one stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you can get to EPCOT.
The best part about the location of these resorts is that they are the only resorts that have a walkway to the Magic Kingdom. It often takes less time than the Monorail and is great at the end of a long day.
Wilderness Lodge – The Wilderness Lodge offers a water shuttle to the Magic Kingdom and bus service to the other three parks and Downtown Disney.
Animal Kingdom Lodge – The Animal Kingdom Lodge offers bus service to and from the different parks for guests. You don’t have the option to walk to any parks (not even the Animal Kingdom!)
Beach Club Resort, BoardWalk Inn, Yacht Club Resort, Dolphin and Swan – These resorts are all conveniently located within walking distance to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The distance depends on the resort, but you shouldn’t have to walk more than 15 minutes. (From the Beach Club to Hollywood Studios.) They all also offer water shuttle service to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
To get the Animal Kingdom from these resorts, you will need to take a bus. To get to the Magic Kingdom you can take a bus, or if you’re up for a walk, you can walk through EPCOT to the Monorail and take that to the Magic Kingdom (you’ll need a park hopper ticket to do this!) I find the buses faster than this option, but some people can’t get enough of the Monorail.
Old Key West Resort – Old Key West offers bus service to and from the different parks and Downtown Disney for guests. You don’t have the option to walk to any parks, but you can walk to Downtown Disney if you’re up for the exercise! Water taxis are also available for a relaxing trip to DTD.
Saratoga Springs Resort – Saratoga Springs offers bus service to and from the different parks for guests. You don’t have the option to walk to any parks. One nice perk of this resort is that is it within walking distance of Downtown Disney (water taxis are also an option.)
Free transportation is certainly a wonderful perk of staying on property. Keep in mind that the resorts with the most convenient transportation also come with the highest price tags!
