Book Review: PassPorter’s Walt Disney World 2014

My family visits Walt Disney World every year and we plan each visit for months and months. We start planning each trip with a clean slate with endless options for resorts, dates to visit, restaurants to choose and special activities to plan. As my planning is just beginning for this year’s trip, I was thrilled to be able to check out the PassPorter’s Walt Disney World travel guide book. This spiral bound book is a fantastic resource! PassPorter’s is broken down into 8 sections. Here is an overview of what you’ll find in each section:

Planning Your Adventure – This section reviews budgeting and the beginning stages of planning for your trip.

Getting There – Here you’ll find tips on the best time to travel as well as suggestions for traveling by car or plane. It also includes a great packing list with spots to check off items as you pack. (This book is designed to be a workbook that you can write in while you plan and during your trip!)

Staying in Style – Possibly my favorite section, here you’ll find an obsessively detailed review of each resort. I LOVED that they have diagrams of the different room layouts and even suggest which building is the best at each resort. They cover pros and cons of each resort as well as rates and fun extras you’ll find during your stay.

Touring – After a nice overview of MyMagic +, how to get to and from the parks and a rates overview, this section goes into detail on touring each park. Each park sections offers a FOLD OUT MAP of the park which is very cool! They discuss each attraction and offer ratings from the authors and their readers. It includes more details that I love, like which attractions offer FastPass Plus and if the attractions are walk through, boats, shows, etc. And, of course, it runs through the parades and shows that you’ll find in the parks. (I was very impressed to see that the new Disney Festival of Fantasy parade was included as well.)

Feasting – Yum! It’s time to delve into Disney Dining! PassPorter gives a great review of the different Disney Dining Plan options, types of restaurants and tips on how to make dining reservations. They then go through all of the restaurants in the parks and around Walt Disney World, color coding them for “Gourmet Tastes,” “Eateries for Everyone,” “Fun Food” and “Character Meals.” I like that they include the hours for each location as well food suggestions.

Making Magic Here you’ll find all of the fun extras offered at Disney, from tours to classes and photo tips to special occasion options. They also discuss Hidden Mickeys, pin trading and give an overview of Disney parks around the world.

Index – A traditional index as well as an index of helpful Disney and travel websites.

Notes and More – This might be the most fun section of the book! PassPorter’s workbook style book lets you collect autographs, add important planning notes as well as notes from each day of the trip and has pocket folders to add park maps and memorabilia. There are stickers to personalize your book as well.

I was really thrilled with the PassPorter’s Walt Disney World guidebook. I think it’s an ideal guidebook for a Disney novice or an avid Disney fan!

    Happy Planning!
    Amy
