Residence Inn in Lake Buena Vista

After a very cold Thanksgiving trip to Northern Indiana, we were happy to be heading to Florida for a few days of rest and relaxation. Bitter cold or warm Florida Sunshine? I’ll take the warm Florida sunshine any day!

We had the opportunity to visit the Residence Inn in Lake Buena Vista. With our gigantic family it’s hard to find a single room that is big enough for all of us. Having to book 2 rooms is usually what we have to resign ourselves to. booking 2 rooms, we are even starting to outgrow some of the 2 bedroom suites at some hotels.  Thankfully this Residence was able to accommodate our whole family in one room. Their big 2 bedroom suite had plenty of room (and beds!) for all of us.

The suite had a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms (each bedroom had 2 queen beds), 2 full bathrooms and a living room (complete with sofa bed). The rooms were all spacious so we didn’t feel like we were right on top of each other the whole time. Laying in the bed was like laying on a cloud (seriously the best nights sleep in a long time!) Too bad my kids were more excited about watching The Disney Channel on the giant flat screen TV’s than taking a nap. Boo!

Having a full kitchen is a big bonus for us since eating out can really mess up our budget. Right after we arrived, I made a quick trip to the grocery store and stocked up on some groceries for our new home away from home. Breakfast foods not needed though since the hotel provides a full breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 9:30 on the weekdays and 7:00 – 10:00 on the weekends.

Make sure not to miss the breakfast buffet! It is indulgence on a plate. Everywhere you turn, there was a delicious treat! Mickey shaped waffles, chocolate and cream cheese muffins, biscuits and gravy, fruit, oatmeal and so much more! The food was all good and the dining room service was top notch. The dining room is huge, but it fills up quickly,  the earlier you go, the better. You can always take your food back to your room and eat there.

We spent our first day at the Magic Kingdom. Residence Inn provides complimentary shuttle service to Epcot. From Epcot you can catch the monorail right to the Magic Kingdom. It was great not having to worry about parking. The shuttles run every 30 minutes and start 1 hour before park opening and go until 1 hour after park closing.

The next day was just spent relaxing at the hotel. The weather was beautiful so we spent most of the day lounging at the heated outdoor pool. The pool was the perfect temperature (or at least so I’m told) I spent the day relaxing in the lounge chairs and reading while the kids (and hubby!) played in the water. There was also a cold plunge pool and a hot tub.

After the time at the pool, my older kids and husband checked out the game room while I cooked dinner. The game room was small but fun. It had a couple of  boat racing games, an air hockey table, a shooting game and of course “The Claw.”  I don’t know who had more fun, my husband or the kids – lol!

We spent our last night all cozied up in one of the rooms watching Christmas movies. It was the perfect end to a perfect couple of days; just what my family needed to decompress and gear up for the holiday insanity that was coming.

We were sad to leave the next day, but we look forward to coming back next time we need a break from the insane asylum that we call our life.

Thanks Residence Inn for a fantastic stay!
